**BLURB**
To the outside world Brandon Cameron appears to have everything a man could want or need: a successful career, wealth, good looks, beautiful women, and a good name. Little do they know that Brandon feels as if his life is falling apart. In addition to having to rebuild his office after a major fire, he’s dealing with the loss of a child and the possibility of losing the one woman he’s ever loved. The thought of losing his wife is the straw that is threatening to push him over the edge.

The oldest daughter of one of the most prominent African-American families in Atlanta, Dominique Shaw is fiercely independent and doesn’t have a desire to be a part of her family’s security and finance businesses. Wanting to forge her own path, she traveled to New York and pursued her dream of becoming an attorney.  Through doggishness, she made her dream come true and as a result is well known in legal circles.  What isn’t well known is the fact that along the way, she fell in love, got pregnant, and married Brandon Cameron.

Due to circumstances beyond her control, Dominique comes face-to-face with her past. Will she be able to finally live that life she’s longed for with the man she loves? Or will the rollercoaster that’s become her life force her to sacrifice the chance for happiness once again?

Check it out! My review of Ronni's Romanian by Nevea Lane

I had the pleasure of reading Ronni’s Romanian and I have to say it was a great short read. Lucian had me hooked from the moment he gave Ronnie the foot rubs at the fountain.  I won’t get into too much of the story…I can’t without giving it away. Just know that Ms. Lane did an awesome job of showing how a mother’s thoughtlessness, a father’s blindness to situations, and what appeared to be a business rival, couldn’t stop the power of love.

I have read other books by Nevea Lane and like this one; I have yet to be disappointed. I can’t wait for the next release.

Great Job!

What's the Scenario Wednedsay. Theme: Man in Uniform

Once again it’s What’s the Scenario Wednesday.  This week’s theme is Man in Uniform. I’ve chosen a theme from an upcoming release, Someone to Watch Over Me. This story will release late October, 2011. I don’t have a cover yet and will post just as soon as I get it. It’s not about a man in uniform, but the hero does serve and protect his woman. Have a peek and let me know what you think. Enjoy!

Setting: Boston. Seagram Hotel

**Unedited Excerpt**

“Ooh,” London groaned out loud. Her entire body tensed up as she grabbed her head with her hands. “Oh God! Why now? Why me?”

These headaches had become such a bother that, with the suggestion of her medical doctor, she’d actually made an appointment to see a neurologist next week. Not that it would do any good. She was sure that it was just stress from all that was going on in her life that had started her migraines. She’d had headaches in college, too, but never this debilitating. Even breathing hurt.

London wasn’t sure, but she thought she heard a knock at her door. Her head was hurting so bad that she might have just heard the hammering going on in her skull. Freak, this one was a doozy. They usually only lasted a few minutes but the one last night had stuck around for almost ten minutes, and she’d had the one today for over twenty minutes.

“What’s wrong?” came a familiar voice from somewhere inside her office. Was that Connor? Or was she hearing things? London wasn’t sure, and her head was hurting too bad to even think about lifting it. She must’ve cried out in pain, because the voice she thought she’d imagined was real and Connor was bending down in front of her.

“London, what’s wrong?” His usually well-modulated voice was louder than usual, and his eyes were wide.

She wanted to ask him what the hell he was doing here but thought better of it. Tossing out insults was not going to make the pain go away.

“My…head…hurts…bad. Oh God, Connor, I think I’m going to be sick.” She cried out in pain and started to get up, but shifting her body only a few inches made her feel light-headed. Connor’s left hand pushed her back down and his right set trash can in front of her face. She heaved and vomited until she felt as if every piece of food she’d ever eaten was being expelled from her body. When she’d finished, Connor was kneeling in front of her again with a wet towel in his hand.

“Here you go,” he whispered wiping her face with the towel. “Should I take you to emergency?”

She tried to shake her head no but didn’t want to risk the pain.  She opted for laying her head back on her desk. “I…don’t think so. It should pass…in a minute,” she whispered so as not to aggravate the pain.

“Are you sure?” Connor asked in a voice full of concern. “I’ve never known you to suffer headaches so badly that you’ve become ill. What’s going on, London? Is the press still hounding you?”

“Not… as much as they used to. There’s always a stray one here and there. Nothing I can’t handle. I think we’re becoming old news. Now if my folks would lay off my back everything would probably be all right in London’s world,” she murmured around another bout of pain.

“You’ve been working too hard. You need to slow down, London.  You don’t even have to work at all. You have plenty of money that you rarely use as it is. I’m taking you up to the private suite. No objections,” he added firmly.

She had objections, plenty of objections, but the thought of resting her head on a cool pillow stole all thoughts of resistance. “Maybe if I lie down for a bit the headache will go away and I’ll stop seeing double,” she mumbled, pushing herself to her feet. Immediately, the room whirled around her as if she were on a ride at a carnival. “Whoa,” she said.

“Come on.” Connor bent down and scooped her up like she was no bigger than a sack of potatoes. London shrieked and immediately wished she hadn’t…the pain in her head intensified.

“Just keep still and lay your head against me,” Connor commanded.

Oh, how she would have loved to give in to that firm voice, but…“Connor you can’t carry me out of here. Think of the employees…and the media.”

“I can, I will, and I am. No one will see us but security. Or have you forgotten about the private elevators leading to the suite?” Connor replied.

“Ugh,” she groaned. It must be the headache because she most certainly had forgotten.

“No worries. Relax, sweetheart, I’ll have you upstairs and in bed in a jiffy,” he remarked as he walked out of London’s office towards the private bank of elevators leading to the presidential suite.

London closed her eyes and relaxed against Connor’s broad chest. It felt good being held like this, even if it was only for a few moments. She’d savor this feeling while she could. It had been a long time since Connor had held her so tenderly. Anyway, the divorce was almost final so this was probably a one-shot deal.

London sighed deeply and buried herself further into Connor chest. She heard him tell security to make sure that there were no paparazzi lurking around. He barked out a few more orders as he stepped into the elevator. So like Connor to take control of the situation. So authoritative.

“Is your headache getting any better London? Are you sure you don’t want to go to emergency? He asked. “Never mind, don’t answer. Just relax. I can see by the pinched expression on your face that you’re still in pain.”

The elevator gave a quiet hiss as it came upon their floor and stopped. The doors opened.

Setting: Atlanta, Georgia. Conference and Handbag Expo
Set-up Entrepreneur designer, PRINCESS MONTGOMERY, sets off for downtown Atlanta to attend a handbag Expo and visit with her younger sister. After a few days of little to no time spent with her sister, Princess decides to take her purchases and leave Atlanta for home; little does she know handbags aren’t the only things she’ll be leaving Atlanta with. Professor Bradley Thornton, known to his friends as Brad and to colleagues as Professor of Geek, is attending a NASA conference in downtown Atlanta. Sitting in a luncheonette next to the conference hotel with his two closest friends is where he gets his first glimpse of a delectable caramel skinned beauty crossing the street wearing a skirt, in his opinion, way too short. He wants to approach her, ask her out, but because of his inability to communicate properly with the opposite sex; his plan was to admire her from afar. That was his plan. However, plans do change.
* * *
After obtaining Princess‟ room number, Brad took the elevator up to the second floor of the hotel. He hesitated a moment before knocking at the door. Suddenly he didn’t feel as confident as he had when he’d left the restaurant. The fear of rejection weighed heavy on his chest. She was gorgeous, and on top of that she was African-American, Why would she want anything to do with him? Maybe she wasn’t into white guys. Brad groaned deep, then turned to walk away. Just as he was turning away from the door, it opened.
“Professor Thornton, what are you doing here?” he heard her ask.
Brad turned around slowly to face her and was rendered speechless—Again. There she was standing in her doorway with even less clothes on than she’d worn earlier. She was wearing a bathing suit…well, what he guessed was supposed to be a bathing suit. The thing looked like a few pieces of material held together by strings. The little piece of fabric she had wrapped around her waist was totally useless. It didn’t hide what was underneath it at all. He guessed the little scrap was more for fashion than coverage. Brad had never considered himself a possessive man, but by God, he couldn’t allow her to go out like that, showing all of her assets to anyone with eyes—And what beautiful assets she had. Her body was to die for. Perfect, but practically naked. Where was she going naked?
“Ah, Professor, is there something you wanted?” Princess asked.
“You,” he said before he could stop himself.
“Excuse me?” he heard her say around his lust-fogged brain.
“I mean…I need to speak with you. I…mean…can I have a word with you?” Brad asked in a rush.
She seemed to hesitate before finally inviting him inside.
“Sure, come on in. I was going for a swim, but I guess it can wait. Is there something wrong?” she asked before moving aside and allowing him to enter her room.
Brad released the breath he’d been holding and walked in ahead of her. He didn’t turn around to face her until he heard the door click shut. He looked up in time to see her placing a pair of sunglasses on the table along with what appeared to be a beach bag. Funny how he hadn’t noticed she’d been holding the bag before. Brad did a quick perusal of her body again and noticed that it glistened with what was probably sunscreen. Oh man, her legs were long and shapely. They would look good tangled with his.
Suddenly his trousers felt too tight. His zipper was cutting off the circulation to his manhood. He was hard as a rock and appeared to be getting harder. She was having a serious effect on his libido. Brad stuffed his hands into his pockets to try to pull his pants away from his erection and moved a little, trying to adjust himself. He prayed like hell that Princess didn’t notice his growing hard-on.
“I’m still waiting for you to tell me why you’re here, Professor.”
Brad shook himself out of his musings. “I came over to invite you to dinner this evening. And please call me Brad. I haven’t been a professor for a few years now.”
“You want to have dinner with me?” Princess asked with a look of disbelief on her face.
“Yes, I do. Why are you acting as if I’ve said something wrong?”
“It’s just that you didn’t appear to like me earlier. In fact, you seemed to enjoy pointing out the errors of my ways, then you show up out of the blue wanting to have dinner with me. What’s up with that?” She crossed her arms under her chest, which only pushed her breasts together, giving him a better view of the creamy globes.
Brad gave a deep, guttural moan. “Do you mind putting on some clothes?” he choked out.
“Yes, I do mind. If you have a problem with the way I’m dressed, you can leave and I can go have my swim,” she replied, then made to pick up her bag.
“No, wait!” he shouted. “I didn’t mean that the way it sounded. It’s just you’re kind of distracting me. I didn’t mean to offend you. You’re beautiful. You have the strangest effect on me. I just wanted to have dinner with you.”
“You think I’m beautiful?” she asked.
“Very,” he responded.
“You said that you wanted to have dinner with me—does that mean you don’t want to anymore?”
Brad relaxed when he saw the smile pasted on her face. All was not lost. “No, I would still like to have dinner with you.”
“Good, then I accept your dinner invitation. What time should I be ready?”
Brad stared at her in shock for a moment, mouth agape. She’d said yes. She’d actually said yes. Yes! He had a date.

What's the Scenario Wednesday! This week's theme is "DATE NIGHT"

Once again it’s What’s the Scenario Wednesday.  This week’s theme is DATE NIGHT. I’ve chosen a party scene from a previous release Claiming Sydney, released through Shara Azod. Enjoy!

Setting: Venezuela. Birthday party.

Set-up Having promised her best-friend that she’d attend her 30th birthday party, Sydney Greene is off to the outskirts of Venezuela, a place where a year ago, she’d learned to release her inhibitions and engaged in an illicit two-week affair with a gorgeous Spaniard, Fabian Acosta.
Sydney felt a strong arm snake around her waist and pull her back against his hard body. “Fabian,” she muttered.
“Why are you hiding in the corner, Mí Amor,” he whispered in her ear.
“No reason. Just tired I guess. I really didn’t get much sleep last night or this morning if you recall,” she snickered.
“If you want, we could leave here now and pick-up where we left off this morning,” he murmured. His tone indicated that he was serious. If his tone hadn’t been enough to convince her that he was serious, the bulge that rested against her ass sure did.
“I want to, but Gabriella would kill me if I skipped out early on her party. As it is, she claimed that you’ve held me hostage long enough,” Sydney laughed. She called Gabriella yesterday from Fabian’s house; and, instead of lying to her friend, she’d opted to tell her the truth. To say her friend was shocked was an understatement. She was also excited that her best friend had hooked up with her brother. Most girls would have probably been upset. Not Gabriella. She was happy. Too bad it ends the day after tomorrow when Sydney would return home. She had to admit that she wasn’t looking forward to it.
“Please, Gabriella is in her glory. Mama complains that Gabriella hardly comes to visit. According to mama, she and Raffi are always in bed. They should have made her some babies by now. Lord knows they’ve had enough practice,” Fabian mimicked his mom. He’d done a pretty good job of it too. They both started laughing.
“You ought to stop, Fabian.”
“I speak the truth,” he said, pulling her more tightly against his bulge and rubbing against her backside. “Shit! I can’t seem to get enough of you. If I wasn’t afraid someone would come upon us, I’d lift your dress and bury myself balls deep within you standing here and no one would be the wiser,” he groaned and Sydney moaned.
“Keep quiet before someone hears us. Here, hold this,” he said, grabbing a glass of wine from a passing waiter and putting it in her hand. “Hold that and be very quiet.”
“Why? What are you up…to?” The feel of his hand creeping up her naked thigh stopped the flow of her words. “Fabian…we can’t.”
“I can’t, but you can. Keep still and pretend to sip the wine. I’m just going to take the edge off until I can get you home,” he whispered.
She was hard-pressed not to cry out as he dipped a finger in her wet core. Her entire body shook with need. He worked his finger in and out of her. Each stroke brought her closer to climaxing.
“Fabian,” she moaned.
“I know Mí Amor. Ride it out. I got you. Don’t cry out,” he said and pushed his finger deep within her at the same time he dipped his head and nipped her neck with his teeth. She exploded around his finger.
“Beautiful,” he whispered against her neck, not moving his finger until he felt the last of her climax. He then licked her juices from his finger. “Tastes like sweet nectar.”

**R-Rated- Excerpt**

Dillon’s eyes went to the column of her throat. He trailed his finger down her throat to trace a line along the pulsating vein that throbbed against his finger. He hadn’t had anyone in a long time. She was aroused and so was he. Her head rolled back to lie against the headrest of the booth, which allowed him full access to her vulnerable throat and protruding breast. Breathing heavily, she made little mewling sounds in the back of her throat as he added pressure to her clit with his hand.
Damn, she was responsive. And hot. The little material that acted as underwear was sopping wet with her juices. Using his finger to move the wisp of satin aside, he inserted one strong finger into her. Her lower body lifted up and into his hand, and she cried out. “Oh, damn!”
“Easy,” he whispered, his hand leaving her throat to travel down and across her front, stopping at her breast, and trailing across her nipple. She moaned out load. “Are you trying to draw attention to us, Lark?” That remark was for her benefit. They’d already garnered a few stares. Dillon noticed Stacy, who was on her way over with their wings, do an about-face in the other direction. No doubt folks already had an idea of what was going on over here. Good. Let them look. At least any man thinking about messing with her would know that she was his and therefore off limits.
“No,” she breathed out.
“Hmm, your breasts are sensitive. I’ll have to remember that,” he murmured, pulling her nipple between his fingers and pinching it softly. Her pussy throbbed against his hand, and his dick hardened. Dillon added another finger, and her pussy clenched his fingers so tightly that he almost came in his pants. He then added a third finger and began to thrust his fingers in and out of her while simultaneously using his palm to press down on her groin.
Her pussy tightened even more. She was close to climaxing. He could tell by the way her pussy clutched and flexed around his fingers. Damn, he wished it was his cock that she fisted so tightly. But that would come later. Now was for her—she needed this, and he was going to give it to her. Again and again and again.  “Easy, baby,” he whispered in her ear.
“I can’t. I need to come,” she groaned. “I need to come real bad.” Her lower body moved in rhythm with the thrust of his fingers.
He watched her passion-filled face through slanted eyes; watched every emotion that crossed it. Damn, if he didn’t think they’d get caught, he’d lift her little skirt up, move her panties aside, release his cock from its confines and impale her on him properly. Instead he pushed into her harder with his fingers and commanded, “Then come, Lark. Come for me, baby.”
She groaned. Her body trembled as she bore down on his hand. Acting quickly, he covered her mouth with his as she screamed and came all over his hand, her womanly juices trickling slowly down his fingers.
“Fuck,” he growled against her lips. He almost came himself. Lifting his mouth from hers, he raised his head to look into her amber-brown eyes. “I wish we were alone.”
“Oh man,” she groaned unsteadily. “Oh damn…oh damn.”
“Tell me about it,” he moaned, twitching in his seat. His cock was so hard it was becoming painful; his fingers were still resting inside of Lark’s pussy. Dillon slowly removed them, brought them up to his nose and sniffed. “Lovely,” he murmured, then licked her juices off his fingers. He needed to get her alone, needed to be buried balls-deep in her pussy.
“I have to settle a few things. Go up to my apartment and wait for me,” he murmured.
“What?”
Dillon reached in his pocket, removed a single key from his key chain, and handed it to her. “You heard me. Go up to my apartment and wait for me. You want to be fucked, and I want to fuck you. I’m going to give you what we both want,” he said.

What's the Scenario Wednesday: Chemistry 101

Welcome again to What’s the Scenario Wednesday.  This week’s theme is Chemistry 101. This week I’ve done something a little different. Below I have listed a few scenes from my upcoming release, Through the Fire coming soon from Beautiful Trouble Publishing. Enjoy!

Setting: Texas. The wedding reception of Diamond Shaw and Rafe Carmichael. Can you remember a time in your life when you have either been at an event of some sort, a bar, a park, a party or even the library, and you ran into that one person that ties you in a knot? Your heartbeat accelerates with anticipation with what could be, could have been, or in anticipation of what’s to come. Are your senses heightened more if it’s someone you’ve already been intimate with, or a stranger? The sexual chemistry is undeniable. Yet you still play the game. Does the chase intensify the chemistry? Enquiring minds wants to know.
Come on I know you as the reader want to know too. Join me on the journey of Dominique and Brandon as the chemistry between the two is SIZZLING!

Set-up:  **Warning these are little snippets from my upcoming novel, and not full excerpts**
Snippet one: The reception: The brown-eyed beauty had been intentionally avoiding him all day. He’d tried several times to speak with her. Each time, she’d given him the slip.  She’d been using her family as a shield all day, which was a pretty bratty trick, since none of their family knew they’d ever had a relationship.  Anyway, the hell with family.  He needed to talk with her. Not here, not now, but soon. Like, tonight soon.
Brandon looked down at his watch. This reception would be in swing for at least another hour. Why the hell were receptions so damn long anyway? He was sure the bride and groom were anxious to be gone. He would’ve been.
Snippet two: The reception:
Sighing, Brandon ordered another drink from the bar. “Scotch straight.”
Nodding, the bartender quickly fixed his drink and slid it across the bar.
Thanking the bartender, Brandon’s gaze swept the room again, seeking out Dominique willing her to look his way.
His father’s voice interrupted his eye-stalking.  “You okay, son?”
Brandon turned and looked into his father’s eyes before answering. “I’m fine Dad. Why do you ask?”
“Hmm, Chad’s sister looks beautiful doesn’t she?”
“Yes. Diamond makes a beautiful bride,” Brandon said shifting his gaze towards Diamond and Rafe.
“Yes, Diamond makes a stunning bride, but I wasn’t referring to Diamond, son. I was talking about Dominique.”
Brandon glanced up at his father again. Did he know about him and Dominique? No. He was just making an observation.
Or was he? Who knew with his father?
“They’re a beautiful family, Dad,” Brandon responded cautiously.
“I don’t think Xavier and Chad would like being referred to as beautiful.” His father laughed before returning his eagle-eyed gaze. “You sure there’s nothing wrong, son? You haven’t been around much since that incident with Alisha.”
“I live in New York, Dad.  I’m not exactly around the corner,” Brandon hedged.  Though he wasn’t looking, his eyes immediately keyed in on Dominique.  She had stopped dancing and was making the rounds chatting up friends and relatives.  It was a nice thing to do but not necessary, especially since the bride and groom were also making the rounds. Brandon knew what she was up to; she was avoiding him. His eyes followed her every move, like a predator eying his prey.
Fine. Since she refused to come to him, he was going to her.
Dominique must’ve felt his eyes on her. She turned and their gazes locked. Brandon lifted his brow slightly and gave her his predatory smile. The look she returned was panic-stricken. He masked his smile with a cough into his hand to keep from laughing out loud. Dominique broke eye contact with him…but not before she gave a slight tilt of her chin towards the exit of the ballroom. She wanted him to follow her. His heart leapt in his chest. He gave a slight nod of understanding and watched the gentle sway of her slim hips as she exited the room. He waited a few endless seconds before following.
Snippet three: The barbeque
Okay, enough lollygagging, I need to get out of here and back to the hotel. First I need to get Brandon’s attention. I don’t have his room key and I am going to need it for what I’ve got planned.
She was going to give him the night of his life.
Grinning at her spur-of-the-moment decision, Dominique took out her blackberry and sent Brandon a text message:  “Hey baby! I’m ready to go back to the hotel. I need your room key.”
Before she could think better of it, she hit the send button.
She watched out of the corner of her eye as Brandon frowned slightly and took out his phone to look at the message. Then his face lit up. He locked gazes with her for a moment. Then he dropped his head and started texting back.
Dominique felt a rush of excitement go through her at the dinging of her phone. She opened the text.  “It’s like that is it?” the message said. He even included a smiley face.
“Yes,” she texted back immediately.
“I’ll call the front desk tell them to leave a room key for my wife. Is that okay?” Another smiley face.
“That’s perfect. And I want the key to your real room, not the decoy.”
She felt Brandon’s eyes on her and their gazes locked for another moment. Her cell phone dinged again.
“Are you sure?”
“Positive,” she typed. She was anything but positive, but now was not the time for doubts. She’d made her decision, dammit.
“Are you leaving now?”
“Yes. So don’t be long. I have something special planned for you.”
“Stop playing.”
“I’m not playing. Don’t keep me waiting.”
“I’ll give you a ten minute head start before I’m right behind you,” he texted.
“Twenty minutes.”
“Fifteen. Final offer. Get your sexy ass up and move it, wife.”
“Bossy, bossy.” His eyes narrowed dangerously, so she sent him another message that she knew he would like better. “All right, I’m moving it now.”
      “Love you, baby.”
“Love you too. See you. Fifteen minutes.” For no good reason, she felt tears begin to pool in her eyes and blinked them back before anyone could notice. Her phone dinged once again. Dominique read the text and the tears started to pool her eyes again.
“Be careful, baby.”
So like Brandon. “I will.”

Tuesday Morrigan

Okaaaaaaaaaay! Blogging...

So what do I blog about? Hmm.

Hey, have blind people been given a license to drive? Why would I ask?

I’m driving down the street minding my own business when I see this old dude that’s been driving in front of me for about ten minutes at about 10 miles per hour. Me, I don’t go around old people unless there’s a lot of room to maneuver. So we’re driving along and all of a sudden old dude ventures into left lane, sideswiping the car in the lane, and then tried to pull off. Evidently something was stuck (insert laugh) because his car wouldn’t move. I pull to the side, the other guy gets out of his car, and then the old guy gets out.

GUESS WHAT old dude has on these really jet-black glasses and has a German Shepherd sitting in the front seat, LMBO! The guy that he hit looks at me…I look at him and we both start laughing. The guy in the other vehicle could only throw his hands up in the air and say, “You've gots to be kidding me.” Old dude was either blind or had just come back from getting his cataract done. I am betting on the blind.

I left them at the scene awaiting the police. I laughed all the way home.

The Most Common Misconceptions about Interracial

Relationships by Stacy-Deanne

Hello all! First let me say I am honored to be on my buddy, Serenity King’s lovely blog. Since she let me intrude today, I thought I’d make it worth your while. And you know I can.

For those who need an introduction, I’m Stacy-Deanne. I am a big supporter of interracial relationships, I love white guys and I write mystery and suspense novels that often feature interracial romance. I am known as “Interracial Romance’s First Lady of Crime and Mystery”.

Now let’s get started. I don’t just blog to entertain but to educate and provide guidance to those in need. There are common misconceptions from outsiders about interracial relationships. Some folks just don’t get it. I would like to point out the most common misconceptions in hopes that it leads people to being more open to IR relationships and to realize that even though color is part of the attraction, it is not the most important thing in the relationship.

Misconception 1: People Date Interracially Because They Are Ashamed of Their Own Race

This might be true for some people. I know for a fact that some people do date interracially because they have issues with their own race. They’ve either got burned too many times or they have some self-hatred for their own culture. This can be true but it is definitely not the main reason people date out of their race. People who date interracially do because they have a genuine attraction to other races.

Misconception 2: People Date Interracially Because They Do Not Like the Looks of the Opposite Sex in their Own Race

Once again this does come into play for some people but definitely not the majority. It comes down to a preference. Most people who interracially date have dated others in their own race and do find them attractive but date interracially because they have met others through circles like work or social hangouts. It’s mainly about personalities and how much you have in common with someone. It can be true that people of your own race might not be into what you are into and you can’t find someone that you wanna be with. Just because you’re painted with the same brush does not mean you belong together.

Misconception 3: Women Look Down on Interracial Dating More than Men

This is completely untrue and a general assumption. What gets me is that people are always spotlighting black women and making it seem like they are jealous when black men date out of their race. You might have some that don’t care for it, but you have white men and black men who don’t care for interracial dating either.  It’s always made into a big deal to make black women look bitter. The ones who squawk the loudest about it do not represent all women. Most women couldn’t care less who a man is dating no matter the color.

Misconception 4: Blacks Date out of Their Race to Have Kids Look a Certain Way

This is disturbing but unfortunately I’ve heard this said by some black men and women who have admitted that they want biracial kids because of how they look. This is not the norm and most people do not think like this. You should be with someone because you are truly in love with them, not because you want your kids to have “good hair” or light skin.

Misconception 5: People Who Date Interracially Do It to Prove a Point

Nope. Interracial couples aren’t going around with an agenda. They are just like couples of the same race and the last thing they think about is the outside public.

There are many misconceptions about interracial dating and some people will never understand. But it’s 2011 and this is a time when someone’s acceptance of your relationship shouldn’t be overly valued. Interracial dating is becoming more popular throughout many cultures everyday. We can’t change people’s opinions but we can attempt to educate to put an end to these myths once and for all.

CELEBRATING CINCO DE MAYO

A Night to Remember : Short Story

**Blurb**

Cinco de Mayo was a time to celebrate Hispanic heritage. Persia Andersen would like to celebrate it alright-after all, it was part of what had created Michael Fernando, director and owner of the Help Center where Persia is employed. Too bad Michael had never shown the slightest bit of interest in her or anyone around the Center. Until that magical night when inhibitions are set free. Persia found she wasn’t the only one hiding attraction.

From the locker room to the bedroom these two dynamic people keep the timbers burning. While the fireworks are going on outside, Persia and Michael create their own brand of fireworks inside. Come join Persia and Michael as a Brooklyn block party to celebrate the holiday turns into a night to remember, Michael’s style.
